Notes

Supplementary material to a passage of a text that is not integrated into the text, but rather is set off typographically in a way that forms a separate unit. Notes are particularly common in scientific literature. Notes mostly contain references for the statements made in the text, and these references specify where exactly in sources or scientific publications the supporting material appears.
